203 – Drawstring Daypack Pattern

Sizes for Adults and Children

Skill Level:  2, Easy

This easy-to-sew drawstring backpack pattern comes in two sizes - one for adults and one for children.  The main bag has a drawstring and grommet closure and the outside pocket closes with a zipper and protective fly.  Also included is an inside zippered pocket flap to store IDs or money or keys.  Straps are adjustable and the pattern includes a hang tab as well.  

Suggested Fabrics:
Waterproof 400 denier nylon pack cloth, 500 denier nylon cordura, or medium to heavy cotton Duck.

ADULT DAY PACK
14-1/2" x 10-1/2" x 6" (37 x 27 x 15 cm) finished measurements
Fabric Requirements: 
7/8 yd (.8 m) ...............    60" (150 cm) OR
1 yd (.92 m) ...............    45" (115 cm)

CHILDREN'S DAY PACK
12-1/2" x 8-1/2" x 4-1/2" (32 x 21.5 x 11.5 cm) finished measurements
Fabric Requirements:
3/4 yd (.7 m) ...............    60" (150 cm) OR
7/8 yd (.8 m) ...............    45" (115 cm)

Notions: 
Polyester thread, 1/8 yd (.12m) padding for strap, 2/3 yd (.6m) #5 coil zipper, two #5 coil zipper pulls, eleven (1-2 packs) 1/4" grommets/eyelets, 1-1/2 yd (1.4m) 1" (2.5cm) webbing, two 1" (2.5cm) double bar buckles, 1-3/4 yd (1.6m) 1/8" (3mm) cord, one toggle, one 1" (2.5cm) D-ring.
