The Green Pepper patterns are ideal for making gifts to give over the holiday season.  There are loads of options for making things that don't depend on sizing (bags, for instance), as well as garments that don't need a very specific size (hats!).  Plus, there are many quick and easy projects to sew, which can make making a handmade gift much less stressful.

Here are some of our picks for sewing gifts this year:

Hats

Hats make a great gift.  They are warm, cozy, stylish, and usually very quick and easy to sew.

542 Roll Brim Hat.  This is a more sophisticated hat -- not just practical, but fashionable too.  Add a decorative button from your stash or make a fabric flower for the brim.

534 Polar Beanies
.  With this pattern you will be able to sew up several hats with the yardage required.  This is very quick and easy pattern so you can get multiple hats done in no time!  Plus there are several options for personalization (tassel, braid, etc).

Mittens and Gloves

Another item to keep everyone warm in the winter, gloves and mittens don't take much time to make (mittens are easier and quicker) and don't take a lot of fabric.  Here are some of our favorites right now.

508 Polar Paws.  This pattern is a customer favorite.  Make mittens or gloves for anyone in the family.  And it is available as a PDF pattern so you can get the pattern right away and start sewing!

529 Glove-itts or Finger-free Gloves.  This pattern makes up a practical and pretty set of fingerless gloves or glove/mittens that are always nice.  Plus, this pattern uses very little fabric.

548 Lined-stretch Mittens or Handwarmers.  This super easy pattern will make a perfect pair of mittens for driving or doing outside chores in cooler weather.  Make up several pair in different colors!

Bags

Bags also make wonderful gifts.  Practical, but they can also be fun, especially with great fabric choices.  Right now, we are really liking these bags for gifts.  But The Green Pepper has lots of bag patterns, so there is a lot to choose from that is perfect for you!

546 Market Tote.  This bag is so quick and simple to make, and it comes in three different sizes (plus a produce bag).  These are even great for a reusable gift bag!  I made one the other day from laminated cotton and love it.  I'm planning on making several of these as gifts.

555 Village Courier Bag.  This bag is great to make as a special gift for someone to use for their work or school.  I love how it has a place for a computer and several other pouches, and that it can be made with upcycled jeans.  This one is great!

202 Round Cargo Bag.  With this pattern, you can make many different sizes of bags -- from duffle to cosmetic bag.  My kids loved the year I gifted them with new athletic bags just like this (and I loved that they could keep all their sports stuff together!).

533 Rugged Tote.  I personally love this bag.  We use bags like this all the time at my house -- for overnight trips, to take to the pool/beach/river, to carry dishes/wine/gifts to a dinner, even to bring in lunch and other items to work.  I am making several of these for gifts this year, using many of the heavyweight wovens I've collected over the years.  With several sizes to make, it is a great option for making for gifts.
